Pedaling for Prevention
The Coalition for Healthy Communities hosted its third annual Pedaling for Prevention on Sunday, September 7, 2008. Families, Coalition members and volunteers from all over Central New Jersey helped raise money for the Coalition, a community based organization dedicated to decreasing substance abuse and improving the quality of services for individuals in need. Dozens of participants took part in either a 50 Mile Bicycle Tour or 20 Mile Bicycle Tour or a 5K Fun Ride or Walk in the Park. Bicycle safety check and general bicycle adjustment was provided by Jason Kong of Brick Bike. Participants also enjoyed massage provided by Kathy Murrillo and visit the tables provided by Star 99.1FM and NCADD. Great food was provided and prepared by Coalition members and volunteers (headed by Chef Extraordinary Steve Liga) and general assistance was lent by former NCADD interns (thank you Nora and Michele.)
At the conclusion of the day, those in attendance were hoping to win one of 26 "door" prizes which included a bicycle (donated by Brick Bike) and gift certificates from many area vendors. Drawing was supervised by Diana Starace and ably assisted by Bella Lopez.
